Glenaros Lodge

...the warm heart of Mull

Glenaros Lodge B&B, Hallway

Our unique traditional island home began life as a church. Its position offers stunning sea views over the River Aros estuary across to the ruins of Aros Castle and beyond to the Sound of Mull and the mainland. It is three minutes by car from the village of Salen where there is a pub, shop, a popular Mediterranean restaurant and a coffee shop. Tobermory, the island's colourful capital, is only a short drive away. Buses travelling to and from Tobermory and Craignure also stop at the end of the drive.

Salen is more or less at the geographic centre of Mull, making Glenaros Lodge an ideal location for hikers, cyclists, bikers and motorists wishing to see the whole of the island, its wildlife and special geology. Red deer can be glimpsed in the early morning grazing in front of the Lodge. Birdwatchers can spot heron, mallard, widgeon, eider and raptors amongst many other birds. Sea eagles often fly over the house. Seals are a common sight off the shore and schools of dolphin, harbour porpoise and the occasional otter may also be seen in the bay.

Glenaros Lodge is located on the Glenaros Estate. Saint Columba once preached nearby. It is a traditional, homely and informal house with plenty of information on the island's history and wildlife. For those visitors who just want a holiday away from it all then here is that special, peaceful oasis.

The Isle of Mull is beautiful all year round, but at its best in the summer months. Thanks to the effects of the Gulf Stream, Mull benefits from mild winters for the which the island is well-known.
